4-E Policy Implementation

The National Workplace Wellness Policy for Barbados provides all organisational and individual stakeholders with a comprehensive and flexible framework outlining key priority areas, policy objectives and key strategies across the nine dimensions of wellness. Effective or successful implementation of any policy should rest on key strategic principles. The Policy operates under four (4) guiding principles for execution and implementation :

Educate

  • Foster awareness and knowledge on wellness via  information/knowledge sharing.
  • Build skills and competencies in prevention of illness/disease and wellness management.

3.

Engage

  • Engage employees in the design/adapt, implement and evaluate appropriate wellness programmes, initiatives and activities.
  • Locate key best practice wellness programming solutions that can be customised for the local context.

2.

Enable

  • Create an enabling environment through the provision of the necessary human, technical and financial resources to pursue wellness goals.
  • Provide support systems and opportunities to facilitate the attainment of wellness goals.

Encourage

  • Incentivise constructive wellness behaviours and efforts.
  • Reinforce constructive wellness behaviours and efforts through positive rewards.
