Toni Moore is the General Secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union; a position to which she was elected at the BWU’s 73rd Annual Delegates’ Conference on 31st August, 2014.

Toni completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Management at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill and also has a Masters in Human Resources Management with an approved Minor in Management of Innovation and New Technology from the McMaster University in Canada.

Since joining the staff of the BWU in April 2004, she has worked in Research, Negotiation, Advocacy and Worker Education and has maintained a keen interest in issues relating to Compensation and Benefits, Productivity and Employee Development and has received extensive specialist training in mediation and conciliation.

Internationally, Toni contributes to worker development at a number of levels. She is Vice President of the International Trade Union Confederation, Deputy President of the Trade Union Confederation of the Americas and Titular member of Union Network International’s Executive Committee of the Americas. At the International Labour Organisation, she has represented the cause of workers on many committees and is particularly proud of her contributions to the debates on Youth and Employment and Decent Work for Domestic Workers where she presented the report for the Workers’ Group in 2005 and 2011 respectively.

Locally, Toni serves on a number of boards, including the National Insurance Department. She sits on the Campus Council of the UWI and is a part-time lecturer in the University’s Master’s programme in Labour and Employment Relations.

Toni has one daughter and enjoys travelling, reading and cricket.
